Charles Laughton portrays Captain Bligh, a seafaring monster ruling with the law of fear. Clark Gable is first officer Fletcher Christian, whose will to obey erodes under Bligh’s tyranny. And Franchot Tone plays idealistic midshipman Byam, torn by his allegiance to both.
