DC Comics Reboot Outsells Marvel

Thumbnail

http://bit.ly/clevvermovies – Click to Subscribe! http://Facebook.com/ClevverMovies – Become a Fan! http://Twitter.com/ClevverMovies – Follow Us! Aquaman is cool again. Yep, Aquaman. Well, and the rest of the DC team. . Hey movie buffs, Tatiana Carrier here for Clevver Movies. For those of you not in the comic loop, last September DC comics “reboot” their entire universe taking 52 of their characters and creating all new #1′s. That’s right. Last August we had Batman #712 on the comic book shelves, the next month, we got to start over with issue #1. It was across the board, all of the companies heavy hitters got to start fresh. . Comic book fans everywhere at first were very much against this idea. In fact, even now, some fans are completely repulsed by the idea and lack of continuity as some would say. Needless to say, this was a ballsy move on DC’s part. But they needed to do something. Their stories were all over the place, and sales were down. Way down. They needed to find a way to clean things up and give a new audience a place where they could start reading from. And I’m happy to say, that it paid off, in a big way. . Some comic book shop owners were saying that they would sell six DC comics to one Marvel comic. Even if Marvel was dominating the movie theatres this summer over DC, the same couldn’t be said in the comic book stores. DC had managed to reel in a whole new crowd of fans. Figures just released from the Hollywood Reporter show the number one DC comic was Justice League #1 which sold 361,138 compared to Marvel’s top seller, Ultimate Spider-Man #160 which only sold 159,355 comics. . With DC’s new found success, this may be a huge opportunity for them to move this winning streak to the big screen. Of course, we are expecting The Dark Knight Rises next summer. But with everyone becoming more familiar with the DC Universe, perhaps we’ll see some new heroes rise to the silver screen. For example, Aquaman is no longer the butt of so many jokes. He’s a real bad ass in the comics, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see his box office debut in the near future. And of course, Wonder Woman had a hard time making it to even television, but maybe this will give her the boost in popularity that she needs. And seriously, WHEN are we going to get a flash movie? That one is just begging to be made! . Now with Marvel dominating with an on screen presence, I think the tides are about to change. But I want to know what you think! Have you been reading the new 52? If not, I hightly recommend you start! Which characters would you want to see be turned into the next summer box office hit? Let us know in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe. Now we may still be YEARS away from a Justice League movie, but at least now, we can start crossing our fingers for it. Now don’t forget you can always hit us up on twitter @clevvermovies as well, I’m Tatiana Carrier and I’ll see you guys next time!

http://bit.ly/clevvermovies – Click to Subscribe! http://Facebook.com/ClevverMovies – Become a Fan! http://Twitter.com/ClevverMovies – Follow Us! Reading is the key to knowledge folks, and the Star Trek comics are proving it! . Hey guys and gals, Joshua Ovenshire here filling in for Tatiana Carrier with Clevver Movies. Back in 2009 J.J. Abrams gave us a reboot to the Star Trek universe taking it to a new and brilliant direction Since then we’ve been waiting patiently for that sequel. Now very little has been revealed about the movie so far, heck, we don’t even have a set cast list in play. BUT it looks like if you’ve been following the new Star Trek comics, you may already have a headstart on what’s going on. . Mike Johnson, the writer for the comic series, has revealed that he’s been, very subtly, dropping hints on what we can expect from the sequel set to release in May of 2013. Mike said in an interview recently . we are able to use the ongoing series to very subtly lay in clues to the next movie,” . In fact, he even teases us saying that there may be some hints of a sub plot in the first issue. So as fan flip back to issue number one, the newly released fourth issue includes some “thematic foreshadowing”. And it doesn’t stop there. They will continue dropping clues as we get closer to the release of the sequel. When the movie does finally release you’ll be able to look back at the comics and say, Ohhhh, I see what they did there. . So what are you waiting for? Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up Ghost Protocol vs Sherlock Holmes

Thumbnail

http://bit.ly/clevvermovies – Click to Subscribe! http://Facebook.com/ClevverMovies – Become a Fan! http://Twitter.com/ClevverMovies – Follow Us! So who won the box office this holiday weekend? Hey Movie Buffs, Joshua Ovenshire here for Clevver Movies filling in for Tatiana Carrier. Normally we recap a three day weekend for box office sales, but because of the holiday we’re looking at numbers from a four day holiday weekend Friday through Monday. Let’s see how it turned out. Coming in first was the blockbuster sequel, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. It opened with a whopping $46.2 million dollars. We saw it on the charts last week, but with its wide release this week, it’s easy to see how it jumped to that number one slot. Second place is another sequel in fact, Sherlock Holmes, A Game of Shadows took home $31.8 Million dollars. Guy Ritchie brings us the second installment of one of our favorite detectives played by Robert Downey Jr and his trusted sidekick Watson played by Law reprising his role. It’s everything we had in the first one but raised to the next level. A must watch and a great laugh. Still holding on to it’s place in the charts, is Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked in third place with $20 Million dollars. Now critics didn’t have many good things to say about this flick, but really, it’s a kids movie and at the end of the day, it’s them with the deciding vote. So with all the tikes out on break, they’re asking mom and dad to take them to see this third movie in the Chimpmunk franchise. Fourth place did surprisingly well for being an R rated holiday release. Girl With The Dragon Tattoo racked up $19.4 Million dollars. This movie was actually released on Tuesday December 20th, and the numbers recorded are only from Friday to Monday. I’m sure we’ll see this movie stay on the charts for a while though, it’s just building up it’s audience right now. And wrapping up the top five is The adventures of Tin Tin. This is actually one of TWO movies directed by Steven Spielberg released last week and it took home $16.1 Million dollars. Personally, I think this is a great movie, and as word spreads I think we can expect to see this family film do quite well in the box office. Well there it is ladies and gentleman. Numbers don’t lie. Even with the hectic holidays at hand, audiences still made it to the movies. But we here at Clevver movies want to know what you saw! Go ahead and leave your mini reviews in the comments below and let us know what we neeed to be watching over the next few days. You can also follow us on twitter @clevvermovies. The Dark Knight Rises Spoilers Revealed

Watch the full trailer here! http://youtu.be/XXAzGGX2tpw http://bit.ly/clevvermovies – Click to Subscribe! http://Facebook.com/ClevverMovies – Become a Fan! http://Twitter.com/ClevverMovies – Follow Us! Spoiler alert from dark k night coming your way! Hey everyone, thanks for tuning back into clevver movies, Your number one source for movie news Im your host Tatiana carrier with more from the caped crusader! First off, let me get this out of the way, this story is all about a potential Batman The Dark Knight Rises Spoiiler. I’ll give you this moment to turn away now, it’s okay, I’ll still like ya. . The site bleedingcool.com had reported that “one well tried and certainly trusted individual” has confirmed that one of the biggest and most epic Batman plot lines will in fact be featured in The Dark Knight Rises. . Now seriously, last chance, even though there’s a lot of public disbelief to this story, it may spoil a pivotal point of the movie for you. . But the source from Bleedingcool was no doubtingly talking about Bane breaking Batman’s back. This is what Bane is known for. . Bane was created for the storyline, “knightfall” which has Bane set out to prove he is the most superior man, and in order to do that, he must destroy Batman. So after releasing all the inmates of Arkham Asylum, he put’s Batman through a gauntlet of challenges, testing the caped crusader, and at his weakest, bane “Breaks the Bat” . Is this a real surprise though? The newest poster shows a broken batman mask with the words “the legend ends” and a moment in the trailer shows an army of inmates escaping what could be Arkham Asylum. The clues are pointing in this direction. But even still fans are in disbelief that director Christopher Nolan would go in this direction. . So is Dark Knight Rises Nolan’s adaptation of “Knightfall”? I really don’t think so. With the prologue already released and the newest trailer on the web, it’s clear that the orgins of the story just don’t match. But it easy to say that some key inspirations are being taken from the source material. But what IF, I’m going to throw this out there. What if this isn’t how the movie ends. What if this is how the movie begins? It has been confirmed that the movie takes place 8 years after The Dark Knight. Another brief moment shows what seems to be Bruce Wayne walking with a cane. I see it playing out, the first portion of the movie takes place not long after the second instalment and then after a destructive confrontation with Bane, it takes Bruce 8 years to get back on his feet. Then you have a mix of Batman Knightfall, and a bit of The Dark Knight Returns. Another great batman story written by Frank Miller. But hey, these are just my thoughts on it. Nothing is set in stone yet… what do you guys think? Bat fans, let us know by sounding off below! Thanks for hanging out, we will catch you next time!
