I’m Chelsea Cannell with your OZ update. No more Spider-Man sequels, no Evil Dead…the word on the street is that Sam Raimi’s next movie is going to be none other than “OZ: the Great and Powerful”… with principal photography already on the books for June of 2011. No doubt there are a whole bunch of Evil Dead fans graphically upset by this news but maybe that’s next. And maybe pigs will fly directly afterward. In past months, Many directors have been rumored to man the OZ Pre-quel, including Sam Mendes, Adam Shankman and Guillermo del Toro but if the most recent rumors are to be believed, it is now up to Raimi to decide whether he takes the project or not. The story is still developing but Deadline is reporting that they have confirmed a Raimi/ Disney deal and that the film will move into development with Robert Downey Jr. in mind! So what do you think, Does “Oz, the Great and Powerful” sound like a good fit for Raimi? Or were you hoping his next film would have more dead of the Evil Variety, if you know hat I’m saying!?
