This, I hope, has brought, a certain empathy and sensitivity to his character that explains how it helps him become the hero that he eventually turns out to be.” When talking about taking over the role of Spider-Man from Tobey Maguire, Garfield explained how he watched the previous Sam Raimi films as a fan and what Maguire brought to the role was perfect. He knows his performance will undoubtedly be compared to that of Maguire’s, but feels his job is to remain true to the character as best as he can and he’s confident that’s exactly what he has done.
