Sam Mendes may have turned down the opportunity to direct the big budget OZ prequel “The Wizard of Oz: the Great and the powerful,” but rumor has it Disney has already moved on and has recently set their sights on Director Sam Raimi! How’s that for perfect timing! Raimi was recently removed from the director’s chair of “Spider Man 4″ by Sony pictures, making way for Disney to offer him the OZ job. If Raimi signs on, he would be at the helm of a cast that is already rumored to include Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. Not bad! The story follows the future wizard, who is a circus wrangler in the real world, but after he is carried away to OZ by a tornado, rises to power when he is believed to be the wizard the town has been waiting for! Take a behind-the-scenes look at Walt Disney Pictures Toy Story 3 opening in theaters June 18th with some of the voices of your favorite characters including Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. The creators of the beloved “Toy Story” films re-open the toy box and bring moviegoers back to the delightful world of Woody, Buzz and our favorite gang of toy characters in TOY STORY 3. Woody and Buzz had accepted that their owner Andy would grow up someday, but what happens when that day arrives? In the third installment, Andy is preparing to depart for college, leaving his loyal toys troubled about their uncertain future. Lee Unkrich (co-director of “Toy Story 2″ and “Finding Nemo”) directs this highly anticipated film, and Michael Arndt, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of “Little Miss Sunshine,” brings his unique talents and comedic sensibilities to the proceedings. Ubisoft’s popular video-game series of the same name gets adapted for the big screen in this sweeping fantasy adventure starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton. The setting is sixth century Persia. A nefarious nobleman covets the Sands of Time, a legendary gift from the gods that allows its possessor to turn back time. Whoever owns the Sands of Time has the power to rule the world, and this villainous lord would use that power to enslave all of humanity. The only person capable of defeating this tyrant and saving the world is Dastan (Gyllenhaal), a youthful prince. Now, with plucky princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) by his side, Dastan will attempt to prevent the Sands of Time from falling into the wrong hands. Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) directs a script penned by Carlo Bernard, Doug Miro, Jordan Mechner, and Boaz Yakin.
