Hey all you movie buffs, thanks for tuning in to Clevver Movies. I’m your host Tatiana Carrier, and I’ve got the latest on what’s coming up this year from Disney. The studio started the year out strong with the re-release of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in 3-D, which brought in over $40 million at the box office its opening weekend. Beauty & the beast ios already a classic, in 3d, it was bigger and better than ever. . Next up, is ‘The Secret World of Arrietty,’ (AIR-EE-ETY) written by Ponyo-creator Hayao Miyazaki. Arrietty (AIR-EE-ETY) and her family live beneath the floorboards of a suburban home, but when she is discovered by the human boy who lives there, her family’s safety is threatened. The English version features the voices of Bridgit Mendler, Carol Burnett, Amy Poehler, and Will Arnett. Check this one out February 17. . Coming up March 9 is ‘John Carter.’ Based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs character who turns 100 this year, Taylor Kitsch stars as a former military captain who is transported to Mars where he becomes involved in a huge conflict amongst the inhabitants of the planet. Thomas Hayden Church, Willem Defoe, and Lynn Collins co-star. . Up next is ‘Chimpanzee,’ from Disneynature. The film chronicles the life of Oscar, a baby chimp with a zest for discovery. When Oscar’s family is confronted by a rival band of chimps, he is left to fend for himself until he meets an unexpected ally. This film hits theaters April 20. . May 4 brings us ‘The Avengers!’ Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow are called together by Nick Fury when an unexpected enemy emerges and threatens global safety. This film stars Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon. . Coming up June 22 is Disney-Pixar’s ‘Brave.’ Kelly Macdonald lends her voice to Merida, a skilled princess who is determined to carve her own path in life by defying an age-old custom. When her actions inadvertently unleash chaos in the kingdom, Merida turns to an old witch for help and is granted an ill-fated wish, which forces her to discover the meaning of bravery in order to undo the curse. Billy Connelly, Craig Ferguson, and Emma Thompson co-star. . Up next is ‘The Odd Life of Timothy Green,’ starring Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton as a couple who can’t wait to start a family. But when young Timothy shows up on their doorstep, the couple and their neighbors learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts. Dianne Wiest and Ron Livingston co-star, and you can see this one in theaters August 15. ‘Finding Nemo’ returns to the big screen September 14, this time in 3-D! Nemo is a clown fish that gets scooped up and added to a dentist’s tropical fish collection. While he and his tank-mates figure out an escape plan, Nemo’s dad embarks on a perilous journey with a memory-impaired friend to find him. Albert Brooks, Ellen Degeneres, and Willem Defoe star. . Just in time for Halloween comes Tim Burton’s ‘Frankenweenie.’ This stop-motion animated 3-D film about a boy who brings his dog back to life and also some unintended and even monstrous consequences. We’re excited for some classic Burton-style, and this film features the voice talent of some Burton-film regulars, including Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, and Martin Landau. . And finally, November 2 brings us ‘Wreck-It Ralph.’ John C. Reilly lends his voice to the video game character who longs to be thought of as a good guy, but unfortunately, he’s categorized as a bad guy. When an opportunity presents itself for Ralph to infiltrate a new game and win a medal, Ralph accidently unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Sarah Silverman, Jane Lynch, and Jack McBrayer co-star. . Well, there you have it, all the films coming from Disney this year. Could another Harry Potter star be making a genre switch? Thanks for tuning into Clevver Movies, I’m your host Tatiana Carrier with some potentially terrifying news. . Well, it looks like Daniel Radcliffe, who’s horror thriller The Woman In Black opened to $20 million this past weekend, is not the only Harry Potter star who is moving from fantasy to horror. Bloody-Disgusting.com is reporting that the Weinstein Company is in talks to make a Thanksgiving horror film, and they hope to land Emma Watson as the lead. Sorry horror fans, but this won’t be a full length version of the fake Thanksgiving trailer that director Eli Roth shot for the Grindhouse films. This film, called ‘Kristy,’ is being pegged as The Strangers on a college campus. Watson would play a college coed who stays in her dorm over Thanksgiving break, and is accosted by four masked assailants who might have bitten off more than they can chew. A director and shoot date have already been assigned, but no news yet on the casting decisions. Watson can next be seen in Summit Entertainment’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower hitting theaters sometime later this year.

Hey guys thanks so much for tuning into clevver movies, Im your host Tatiana carrier coming to you from our Hollywood headquarters with some pretty exciting news! . Weve just learned that despite some production delays, the highly-anticipated franchise sequel, The Wolverine, appears to be back on track and now has an official release date of July 26, 2013!!! The Wolverine will be directed by James Mangold and will follow up 2009′s X-Men Origins: Wolverine and finds Logan beginning a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won’t take “no” for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers and Silver Samurai. . AS you guys already know, it was supposed to originally be released this year, but was delayed due to the Japan earthquake and nuclear reactor disaster and the departure of director Darren Aronofsky….but we knew eventually the wolverine would come to the big screen…

Hey everyone thanks so much for tuning back into clevver movies, Im Tatiana Carrier with your top 5 Tuesday! With the release of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace 3D this Friday we countdown the top 5 sci/fi films of all time! . Coming in at 5. The Matrix— The Matrix was just the kick in the pants the sci-fi genre needed. It combined sci-fi, action and introduced the groundbreaking bullet time effect. Though the technology ended up being overused in just about every commercial made since the film’s release and two crap-tastic sequels followed, the film was the perfect swan song to the 20th century. Aliens comes in 4th place— Though many would probably select Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’ in the top 5, James Cameron’s sequel ‘Aliens’ was simply, in our opinion, a more entertaining movie. Less horror and more action, the film pits Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley against the mother of all aliens as she and a crew of Colonial Marines try to discover what happened to the colonists who have settled the planet where Ripley and the crew of the Nostromo first encountered the aliens. 3rd place goes to The Empire Strikes Back —- Here’s another sequel that trumps the original. Though Star Wars was a huge box office success when released in 1977 and has spawned countless sequels, tv shows, books and video games, The Empire Strikes back is just an all-around better movie. It’s questionably one of the greatest sequels ever made. From the battle on Hoth to Luke’s inevitable confrontation with Darth Vader, the film gives the original character’s real depth and introduces new characters like Yoda, Lando Calrissian and Boba Fett. Plus, how many summer blockbusters these days let the bad guys win? Coming in a close second, is 2001: A Space Odyssey—- Stanley Kubrick’s ’2001: A Space Odyssey’ is not only considered one of the greatest sci-films of all time, but also one of the greatest films of all time. Period. The film influenced the later works of such pioneers as Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. . And finally last but certainly not least, Blade Runner comes in the top spot on our countdown! —- Blade Runner was a commerical and critical flop when it was first released back in 1982. Surprising considering it stars Harrison Ford during the height of his popularity, with the the film releasing right between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Return of the Jedi. The film finally got the recognition it deserves and became a cult hit with the introduction of the home video market. Though there have been seven versions of the film with significant changes to the storytelling, Ridley Scott’s “The Final Cut” was released in 2007 and the director has called the film his most complete and personal film. A sequel is planned with Scott returning to direct. . So there ya have it, the top 5 sci fi flicks of all time!
