Kevin Bacon & Michael Fassbender Talk X-Men: First Class
http://Twitter.com/ClevverMovies – Follow Us! Kevin Bacon and Michael Fassbender Talk X-Men: First Class Hear what they had to say up next! Hey Everyone I’m Chelsea Cannell and you’re watching Clevver Movies! By now you probably know that X-Men: First Class is going back to it’s roots. The latest installment of the film franchise will start at the very beginning, long before Charles Xavier was known as professor X and Eric Lensherr became Magneto. Speaking of Magneto, Michael Fassbender was recently interviewed and he talked about taking on the role that once belonged to Ian Mckellen. Of course, he has some big shoes to fill but he’s hoping fans will be pleased with his interpretation. He definitely did a lot of work to get ready, admitting that while he’s never been a big comic book fan, he did spend countless hours going through all the X-men comics searching for source material. Needless to say, Fassbender admits he definitely learned a lot but really tried to focus on his background particularly all the pain and grief he went through as a holocaust survivor and through the loss of his wife and daughter. At the end of all his research, Fassbender said he could definitely see where his character was coming from! And that was important, fassbender says, because at the end of this movie Magneto becomes very clear about what he wants, his decisions and his ultimate game plan which all stem from what has happened in his past. As for Magneto’s costume, Fassbender revealed that there is a helmet, to as he said, keep Charlie boy out of his head, and that the colors have been kept traditional to reflect what is seen in the comics, a sort of purple and red. Other than that, Fassbender says that he hopes by the end of the film fans will be asking themselves, “why didn’t these two guys stay together?” The two seem to have enough in common and it appears they could have worked together towards a greater good, but of course we all know where this relationship is going. As for Kevin Bacon who plays the Villain Sebastian Shaw, he revealed that his character won’t get much of a backstory in this film but it’s important to know he’s self made man, a powerful billionare and as it turns out also a mutant. After meeting with Matthew Vaughn about the script, Bacon says Sebastian was exactly the character he wanted to play. But Sebastian won’t look the same like the same guy you’ve seen in the comics. Bacon says they decided early on that that look wouldn’t translate so they had to come up with something different — and from what he says, I think we can expect a bit of a shock. One thing you may find comfort in is that while the absence of wolverine in this installment has worried a few fans, Bacon says the film will be absolutely as entertaining! — but then again, it’s X-men, was anybody really that worried about the entertainment factor? Now of course this is just the start of the press for First Class and of course we’ll keep you updated on all things X-men right here on Clevver Movies.
