Paramount’s Captain America the first avenger focuses on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers played by Chris Evans volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes and Peggy Carter to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull! Sounds pretty kick ass, but lets hear what the critics had to say about the Marvel flick before you head out to the theatres when it releases on July 22nd! The movie scored 54% on rotten tomatoes with reviews all over the board…some liked it, some loved it, and some even hated it. Peter Debluge from Variety said the flick was red, white and bland. Kirk Hunnycut from the Hollywood reporter said, “In terms of even recent films, Captain America lacks the deft touch, appealing character interaction and sophisticated storytelling skills of Marvel Comics’ X-Men: First Class.” And a fan of the flick, Harvey Karton from Compuserve said, “Yet another superhero pic but one nicely rooted in history.” So there you have it, the reviews from the critics, but you know our favorite critic is YOU, so be sure to tell us how Captain America, The First Avenger stacked up in YOUR eyes and make sure to stay here on clevver movies for more review round ups like this!
