Hey everyone, hope you had a fabulous weekend, Im Tatiana carrier and Ive got your box office weekend wrap up! SIMBAA IS KING AGAIN! Disney’s 3D re-release of The Lion King remained lord of the jungle in its second weekend, beating all of the new players to join the domestic box office. The Lion King TOPPED the chart with $22.1 million, and has earned $61.7 million in its first 10 days of play at the domestic box office, exceeding all expectations. Overseas, where it rolled out earlier, the re-release has grossed $16 million for an impressive global total of $77.7 million. Coming in 2nd place is Brad Pitt and Jonah Hills, Moneyball which grossed an estimated $20.6 million. The real-life story of Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane, attracted an older audience, with 64 percent of the audience over the age of 35, which an even split between male and female movie goers. Sony is pretty confident that the flick will do very well over all, ultimately pulling in four times its opening number. The studio launched Moneyball in roughly the same frame it used last year to open The Social Network, which debuted to $22 million on its way to earning $97 million in North America. Dolphin Tale, was RIGHT BEHIND Money ball taking in an estimated 20.3 Million throughout the weekend. The flick cost roughly $35 million to make, and was financed and produced by Alcon Entertainment, the same company behind box office hit The Blind Side. Lionsgate thriller Abduction—Taylor Lautner’s first solo role opened to a SOFT $11.2 million. As we guessed, the flick drew in a crowd of females all under the age of 18. Despite the poor rating by the critics, Adbuction scored a B- on CinemaScore and an A- from females under 18…no shocker there! Rounding out the top 5, Killer Elite came in 5th place with 9.5 million throughout the weekend. The action packed thriller stars Jason Statham, Clive Owen and Robert De Niro and centers around a member Britain’s Elite Special Air Service who is on a mission to kill three assassins.
